Plus One Community Learning CIC
About Us
With the aim of benefitting the lives of those in the communities we work, we’ve been supporting hundreds of families across the UK to help their children thrive at school. As teachers, we’re passionate about giving parents/carers a real insight into what their child is learning in the classroom and how they are being taught in a clear and engaging way.
Our evidence-led ‘Help Your Child Thrive’ parental partnership programmes are a great opportunity to give families a real understanding of how they can support their child’s learning and development at home.
Our weekly sessions which are run in your child’s school or a local community centre, help parents/carers discover ways they can further support the development and wellbeing of their child in the areas of communication and language/oracy, personal, social, emotional and health education, reading, writing, maths, confidence and resilience. With a sound knowledge and understanding of the primary curriculum, our sessions provide parents with practical tools and strategies to support their children’s learning at home, helping them thrive in school.
Our weekly sessions also give families a chance to meet, chat, relax and share experiences with other parents/carers over coffee and cake! Sessions are between 60 and 90 minutes long. They are warm, friendly, stress free and families leave with lots of easy-to-use ideas and activities to try at home!
Many parents/carers say the programme has had a hugely positive impact on their own well-being as their confidence has grown in supporting their children with school work at home. Teachers have said they have noticed a big difference in confidence in those pupils whose families have taken part in the ‘Help Your Child Thrive’ programme.
